Celebrate Earth Day with a meaningful day of family-friendly action, learning and community spirit!
The Rotary Club of Burlington Central and BurlingtonGreen invite you to join our FREE Earth Day at the Beach on Saturday, April 19th, 9:30 am to 2:00 pm.
You can work together with other community members to clean up our beautiful shoreline and learn about ways we can all make a difference to protect our environment.
Please note that some activities require advance registration – see below.
Activities are rain or shine. Participant accessibility needs to be shared in advance with BurlingtonGreen, please. Some eco-action offerings and resources will be indoors if inclement weather. (Note that our indoor space is not fully accessible, requiring stairs to enter)
Event Highlights and Schedule:
🌍 Beach Litter Clean-up & Butt Blitz (9:30 am Start, register below)
Kick off the day by rolling up your sleeves and helping remove litter from Burlington Beach. Let’s protect our local wildlife and fight plastic pollution along our shoreline and in our lake. Includes an opportunity for adults to collect cigarette butts for recycling!
🌱 Fun Eco Activities for All Ages (9:30 am – 2 pm, drop in)
Experience fun and interactive hands-on activities to learn about sustainability and caring for nature, including pollinator-friendly seed ball making and opportunities to share your eco-actions and hopes for the future.
🌳 Guided Tree Walk and Talk (11:30 am Start, register below)
Enjoy an outdoor guided walk with Eric Torkelson, City of Burlington arborist, to learn fascinating facts about trees growing in Burlington’s unique shoreline dune ecosystem.
🔎 Local Climate Action Resources
Learn valuable locally-informed insights into how you can reduce your carbon footprint, get involved in climate initiatives, and adopt more eco-friendly practices.

Expect engaging conversations with like-minded community members, information on sustainability, fresh air and nature at Burlington Beach, and plenty of fun while taking meaningful action for our planet.
What to Bring:
-Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear
-Reusable gloves (if you have them, we’ll have plenty to borrow)
-Litter picker tool (or borrow one from our limited supply)
-Your reusable water bottle
-Lots of energy and enthusiasm!
