With our limited resources, we can't promise we will be able to fully address each and every inquiry but we will do our best to help you or direct you to the relevant contacts and resources to address your question. For example, we may direct you to the appropriate municipal, regional or provincial representative and their responses may be posted for everyone's benefit.

Hi there, I was wondering if there was a group dedicated to Hamilton, or does this group just cover burlington? I am hosting an event on earth day this year and have room for more vendors. Was looking to see if you would like to promote your group.

Motor cycles fall under the jurisdiction of Halton Police.
I suggest you contact them and explore solutions.

Hello. Living in rural Burlington, we are increasingly plagued by several kinds of extremely loud motorcycles. It is my understanding this noise comes from a type of pipe installed on the bikes. Are these legal? is there anything we can do to prevent these people from roaring around in packs and individually? What are the Burlington bylaws? Who can I call in the city? I am hoping BurlingtonGreen can help me. I am in charge of our office supply purchasing and supplies and we have started an ink cartridge recycling program. We are having difficulty trying to figure out where we can deposit our used cartridges. Can you help?

City staff comment: Under the recently Council-approve d Urban Forest Management Plan, Recommendation 21 is for the city to study and evaluate the effectiveness of private tree by laws in other communities, the appropriateness of a by-law for Burlington, and potential resource implications. Work on this initiative is expected to commence about a year prior to its scheduled completion in 2016.

Trees in woodlots of over one hectare fall under Halton Region’s Tree By-law 121-05. This by-law is a tool to prevent the clear-cutting of woodlands and regulates the destruction of trees by requiring good forestry practices during tree harvesting activities. http://www.halton.ca/common/pages/UserFile.aspx?fileId=18412

Through the city’s development process guidelines, private trees are considered for preservation and preservation plans are requested.

Boundary trees are protected under the Forestry Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. F. 26

City trees are protected under tree by-law 19-1975.
